Everything you want to know.

klar is a product safety app that helps you understand what's really inside the food, water, and everyday products you use. We combine verified lab data with ingredient analysis so you can make informed choices.
Yes — we conduct independent third-party lab testing on many products. We also aggregate data from verified public sources, peer-reviewed research, and regulatory databases to build the most comprehensive picture possible.
Never. Our ratings are entirely independent. We don't accept sponsored placements, affiliate commissions tied to ratings, or brand partnerships that could influence our scores. Our only incentive is accuracy.
Scores are calculated from ingredient risk factors, contaminant levels relative to established guidelines, processing methods, and packaging safety. Each factor is weighted by the quality and recency of the underlying data.
We pull from EPA and EWG water databases, FDA ingredient records, peer-reviewed journals, independent lab reports, and our own commissioned testing. All data sources are cited within the app.
Running independent lab tests and maintaining a large, accurate database is expensive. A subscription model means we don't rely on brand partnerships or advertising revenue — keeping our ratings genuinely impartial.
